Where is the lactation suite on campus?
Where can I nurse my baby? Where can I pump breast milk? How do I access the lactation pod? What is the lactation pod? Where is the nursing station?
Answer
The Cabrillo College Library houses the campus's lactation/nursing suite, a Mamava XL pod.
Location: Behind the pillar at the back of the main floor computer lab, across from group study room 1036.
How to access:
- The Mamava app is available for download from Apple's App Store and Google Play for Android devices. This is the easiest way for you to open the pod. Website: https://www.mamava.com/mobile-app
- User codes are available upon request from the Checkout Desk or Information Desk. A librarian or staff member will be happy to help you access the pod!
Adjusting lights/fan:
The lights and fan are set to a single speed if the pod is opened using an access code or the key and cannot be changed. The Mamava app allows for more granular control of the fan and lighting in the unit, so if you want to change the fan speed or the lighting level, download the app!
Policy notes:
- The pod is available during Library operating hours. See our website for details on current operating hours.
- The lactation suite is for nursing parents' needs. It is not to be used for other purposes.
- Wipes are provided inside the pod for users to sanitize surfaces.
- A trash can is provided and emptied weekly.
- The Library does not:
- Store expressed milk.
- Provide breast pumps, nursing pads, bottles, blankets, pillows, or other nursing goods.
- Use of the pod is first-come, first-served. The app has a vacancy alert option, as well as a status notice about whether or not the pod is currently occupied.
- Do not try to move the pod! It is very heavy!
